Asia Bibi, a wife and mother, used these words to defend her faith against mocking co-workers who tried to make her convert to Islam. She was later convicted of blasphemy and sentenced to death.

In Pakistan, more than 150,000 Christians have signed a petition demanding justice for persecution victims, including Asia Bibi. Now you can join with The Voice of the Martyrs and our Pakistani brothers and sisters in a call for mercy. We hope to gather 1 million signatures on behalf of our sister Asia, who now sits in prison awaiting the Lahore High Court’s ruling on her appeal.

Invite your friends to visit www.CallForMercy.com and add their names to the petition as well. VOM will deliver the petition, along with the list of signers, to the Pakistani Embassy in Washington DC.

  • My Heart is Breaking as I Read This

READ: America Quiet on the Execution of Afghan Christian Said Musa

I am not being biased because I have the same faith as he has, but I am very saddened that the Afghan government goes to such extreme measures as killing someone because of his different belief. No one should be subjected to this kind of torture and punishment just because of his faith. He has neither caused harm nor inflicted pain in any way towards his fellow citizens. I think this is against the Universal Declaration of Human Rights set by the United Nations (in which Afghanistan is included).

    Article 18.

    • Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.

What is being done regarding issues such as this? Said Musa is only one of the many who are persecuted because of their faith.

Please pray hard for them and the others who are being subjected to injustice worldwide. Let innocence and justice prevail.

    Edit (Feb. 20, ‘11):

There are people actually fighting for Musa and the others to be freed.
